    POSITION TITLE: ELL Student/Parent Liaison DIVISION: Instructional Services
    WORK YEAR: 10 Months DEPARTMENT: ELL
    LOCATION: Assigned Schools SALARY SCHEDULE: Support Services $15.21-$15.91 depending on experience/education

    DEFINITION:
    The ELL Student/Parent Liaison serves as a resource and support person to the campus ELL department by providing individual contact and follow up to students and by maintaining contact with parents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Contact parents/guardians of no-show students and students with extended attendance issues.
    2. Provides assistance and orientation to students and families; makes referrals to social agencies, and PUHSD support services.
    3. Assist in organization of Home Language parent surveys, meetings, and trainings; verification of correct placement and scheduling of students.
    4. Disseminate annual parent notification letters; collect, file, and document parent signatures authorizing participation in ELL program.
    5. Assist in review of achievement of reclassified ELL students.
    6. Administer and score State-approved tests of English oral, reading, and writing proficiency; conducts annual reassessment of English Language Learners (ELL).
    7. Administer, score and evaluate results of Spanish language oral, reading, and writing assessments.
    8. Use student information system (e.g. Genesis) or other sources to gather information on student schedules, attendance and grades.
    9. Maintains accurate physical/electronic documentation of individual student assessment data and program status, (e.g., retrieves information from student information system) and maintain ELL fields.
    10. Provides information on ELL programs, policies, procedures, and documentation requirements to PUHSD staff.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. High school diploma; degree or college level course work preferred.
    2. Effectively demonstrates oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
    3. Effectively demonstrates ability to operate computer and use appropriate software.
    4. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, community, and school staff.
    5. Ability to work with students and parents from diverse cultures and language backgrounds.
    6. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
    7. Experience in working with ELL students and/or parents preferred.
    8. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
