GRADE 15 - STARTING HOURLY RATE: $24.78 - $25.91 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)
DEFINITION: |
The Chief Electrician supervises and participates in maintenance, installation and repair of all electrical equipment in the maintenance of buildings and facilities. Performs job related duties as assigned. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: |
1. Supervises and works with personnel assigned to the electrical department in repair and maintenance of plant buildings, facilities, and equipment. |
2. Maintains, repairs, installs electrical systems including interior and exterior conduit, transformers, motors, generators, switches, switchboards, heating and air conditioning controls, and exit signs and emergency lights. |
3. Logs work orders and meets with City electrical inspectors at each site. |
4. Inspects work of other electricians and contractors. |
5. Coordinates activities and projects of contractors. |
6. Reviews blue prints; estimates cost of materials and labor in relation to electrical repairs and replacements. |
7. Responds to emergency calls. |
8. Maintains electrical supply inventory, shop machinery and power tools. |
QUALIFICATIONS: |
1. High School diploma or GED. |
2. Completion of electrician apprenticeship, along with five years of electrical construction and service experience and possess a current license. |
3. Knowledge of electrical schematics and systems, safe electrical repair techniques and materials. |
4. Knowledge of other crafts. |
5. Must become a qualifying party to do electrical inspections in conjunction with the Development Service Department, Building Maintenance Registration, and the City of Phoenix. |
6. Physical ability to stand, turn, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, push, pull, climb ladders, poles, and scaffolds. |
7. Ability to read blueprints and prepare rough drawings. |
8. Ability to effectively direct the work of others. |
9. Have sufficient vision and hearing to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job. |
10. Possess a valid Arizona driver's license. |
