STARTING HOURLY RATE: $13.14 - $13.74 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)
DEFINITION:
Under the leadership of the teacher or Instructional Leader, the CTE Instructional Assistant performs instruction related services; works directly with students and carries out assigned functions given by the teacher or the Instructional Leader related to the educational success of enrolled CTE students including, but not limited to special population and non-traditional students. Performs job related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides the support services required in implementing the instructional plan as prescribed by the
CTE teacher or Instructional Leader.
2. Assists with the assessment of students progress through observation and testing.
3. Provides instructional activity assistance and /or accommodations to individual students and/or for small group of students as requested by the teacher.
4. Assists with the integration of technology into the curriculum.
5. Ensures proper student usage of computer, audio-visual and other instructional equipment as needed in the program.
6. Assists teacher with room and instructional materials preparation.
7. Assists in the copying and distribution of instructional materials as requested by the assigned teacher.
8. Delivers lessons that implement the instructional plans as prescribed by the classroom teacher.
9. Attends staff meetings and CTE trainings/in-services.
10. Maintains individual student folders and student records; administers, scores and records results of tests; collects data on student performance.
11. Completes and submits CTE Instructional Assistant Weekly Log Sheets, documenting daily/weekly tasks as required by the state.
POSITION TITLE: Instructional Assistant, CTE
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or G.E.D., and an associates degree from an accredited institution or the equivalent of two years of college (60 credit hours) from an accredited institution(s) or possess a paraprofessional certification from an accredited institution required.
2. Effectively demonstrate both oral and written communication skills.
3. Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
4. Experience with computer hardware and software, audio-visual and other instructional equipment.
5. Basic keyboarding / word processing skills.
6. Second language preferred for ELL assignment.
7. Related skills and experience preferred for specific subjects being taught in the programs to which assigned, i.e. Business Education, Industrial Technology, Family and Consumer Services, or Metro Tech Programs.
