STARTING HOURLY RATE RANGE: $10.50 - $11.13
DEFINITION:
The Kitchen Assistant performs a variety of kitchen duties in preparing and serving meals for students and faculty. Performs job related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs specialized services in food preparation such as baking, making salads, or desserts.
2. Assists cooks in preparing menu items.
3. Sets up steam tables, turns on/off warmers, arranges food for serving.
4. Cashiers, clears register and counts money.
5. Assists with clean up after meals, stores food; picks up pans for washing; cleans stove and other large appliances; cleans counter tops; locks refrigerators and doors.
6. Organizes food for next day's menu.
7. Serves food on the lunch line and replenishes as needed.
8. Set up student and faculty cafeterias, ensuring eating utensils and supplies are available and the food serving lines are ready; break down serving lines at completion of lunch hours.
9. Restock food items and supplies; prepare inventory of leftovers.
POSITION TITLE: Kitchen Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or GED preferred.
2. Six months experience in the food service industry.
3. Possess and maintain a valid Maricopa County Food Handler's card and Certification.
4. Prefer a basic working knowledge of the culinary industry including food service operations, sanitation standards, food preparation, and food service equipment.
5. Must pass a Tuberculosis Test.
6. Be physically capable of performing required duties.
7. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
