    POSITION TITLE: Bookstore Assistant DIVISION: Instructional Services

    WORK YEAR: 10 months DEPARTMENT: Administration

    LOCATION: Schools SALARY SCHEDULE: GRADE: 1 Starting at $12.51 up to $13.08, depending on Experience and/or Education

    DEFINITION:

    The Bookstore Assistant performs a variety of duties in operating the bookstore, maintaining records, and reconciling related monies and inventory control of materials and supplies. Performs job related duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Issues books, workbooks, lockers, insurance and other student activities and collect related monies.
    2. Assists in bookstore pre-sale and year-end audit.
    3. Issues tickets, change and items related to athletic games and reconcile receipts.
    4. Collects monies for class fees, student debts, student activities and prepares deposits.
    5. Disperses monies for approved student activities, auxiliary requisitions and reconciles receipts.
    6. Maintains accurate student records on student schedules and sends student debt notices.
    7. Reconciles cash register daily and prepares daily bookstore and cafeteria deposits.
    8. Assists with maintaining inventory on books, workbooks and supplies issued and sold from the bookstore.
    9. Sends debt notices to dropped students.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. High School diploma or G.E.D.
    2. Six Months of general clerical experience.
    3. Ability to operate cash register and calculator; knowledge of basic arithmetic.
    4. Ability to operate a variety of office machines.
    5. Ability to pack and lift cartons of up to 50 pounds.
    6. Ability to maintain accurate records.
    7. Ability to type with accuracy at a rate required to perform functions effectively.
    8. Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, students, parents and outside public.
    9. Ability to operate a computer required.
