    GRADE: 5 HOURLY RATE: $15.21- $15.91 (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION)

    DEFINITION:

    The Student Liaison serves as a support and resource person for the campus counseling department regarding the systematic review of student progress; gathers up to date information on students regarding attendance, discipline referrals and other referrals for early intervention; manages referrals for support groups and/or other related interventions and maintains contact with parents. Performs job related duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Conduct intake interviews on students identified by staff using prescribed form.

    2. Maintain an up to date file on students identified including attendance, discipline, teacher concerns and any other pertinent information.

    3. Notify parents via letter or phone calls per request of assigned counselor.

    4. Conduct exit interviews to gather information on students who have stopped attending school; this information should be compiled regularly and shared with the counseling department.

    5. Utilize SASI or other sources to gather information on students who have attendance, discipline referrals or other issues that will interfere with successful advancement in the school system.

    6. Setup appointments between the identified student and a counselor or social worker to ensure early and effective interventions.

    7. Collect referrals from staff, student or parents for support groups held on campus and share the information with the support group coordinator(s).

    8. Conduct screening interviews, using prescribed form, for those students referred to support groups.

    9. Collection of statistics and data for dropout prevention reports and/or district-level reports.

    10. Provide follow-up and regular monitoring of students who are referred for intervention.

    POSITION TITLE: STUDENT LIAISON

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High school graduate; degree or college level course work preferred.

    2. Effectively demonstrates both oral and written communication skills.

    3. Effectively demonstrates the ability to operate the computer and use appropriate software.

    4. Ability to plan, organize and perform work duties with capability to prioritize.

    5. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare summary reports.

    6. Ability to communicate with all groups including students, parents, community, administration and staff.

    7. Fluency in language of the target population to be served is preferred.

    8. Knowledge of campus agencies.

    9. Experience in working in a liaison capacity with campus staff.

    10. Experience in the assessment and referral of students in need of social services.
