Construction Technician III

Location: Facilities & Construction

12 month, 8 hours/day

Grade 21, $18.12/hour

Non-Interim Position

Start Date: 6/8/2021

Purpose Statement

The job of Facilities & Construction Technician III is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for coordinating materials and services for the department; managing budgets; conveying information; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.

This job reports to the Supervisor of Construction

Essential Functions

Compiles data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. monthly expenditures, budget spreadsheets, etc.) for the purpose of preparing reports, making recommendations; and/or preparing information to help with the creation of Capital improvement plans through collaboration with Finance.

Coordinates a wide variety of contracts, functions and/or program components for the purpose of completing activities and/or delivering services in a timely fashion and in collaboration with the Purchasing department.

Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents files and records (e.g. budget data, financial records, reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements. Including but not limited to disencumbering funds, finalizing closeout documents and roll over Purchase Orders.

Monitors various Bond Project budgets for the purpose of ensuring expenditures are in compliance with state regulations, district policies and practices and provide required Finance reporting.

Prepares background material (board documents) for Board consideration for the purpose of providing up to date and accurate information.

Monitors a wide variety of activities on behalf of the assigned Administrator (e.g. program components, account balances, work order status, etc.) for the purpose of achieving goals and meeting target dates in compliance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or training for the purpose of providing or receiving information, recording minutes, and supporting the needs of the attendees.

Prepares a wide variety of reports, documents and correspondence of a confidential and non- confidential nature for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, conveying information and/or authenticating said information.

Processes a wide variety of documents and materials (e.g. purchase orders, requisitions, payments, invoices, etc.) for the purpose of updating and distributing information, authorizing action and/or complying with mandated requirements.

Works with SFB,Adjacent ways,1GPA and AFP account with the city.

Responds to a wide variety of inquiries from internal and external parties for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties and/or providing direction.

Schedules a wide variety of activities (e.g. inspections, services, repairs, etc.) for the purpose of directing services in an efficient and timely manner.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using job related software applications, preparing and maintaining

accurate records; planning and managing projects.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting/bookkeeping principles; business telephone etiquette; common office machines; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and office methods and practices.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities, communicating with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, meeting deadlines and schedules, setting priorities, working as part of a team; working with frequent interruptions; maintaining a good rapport with employees, community and vendors.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 75% sitting,

20% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience: Job related experience is required.

Education: Community College and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.
