PVOnline Academic Technician

Location: Paradise Valley High School

9 mos, 8 hrs/day

Grade 15, $15.38 hrs

Non Interim

Start Date: 08/09/2021

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this job is to support the functionaiity of PVOnline and its course development.

The position reports to the School Administration

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and community.
  2. Assist with the development of PVOnline courses in the learning management system.
  3. Assist with maintenance of PVOnline course viability and access.
  4. Schedule students in course management system and student information system.
  5. Process schedule changes and direct information to appropriate personnel.
  6. Maintain up-to-date computer records on each student.
  7. Maintain balanced classes within negotiated limits.
  8. Interpret and input all pertinent information from course completion and new student transcripts.
  9. Process withdrawals and transfers from courses and notify appropriate personnel.
  10. Provide student reports as needed.
  11. Other job-related duties as assigned.

Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; screening telephone calls.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: business telephone etiquette; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; office practices.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job- related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; displaying tact and courtesy; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; being attentive to detail; working as part of a team; working with frequent interruptions; maintaining a good rapport with students, employees and community.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.

Experience: Experience with student and learning management systems.

Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
