Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in data engineering, big data analytics, computer engineering, or related field. Proven related experience as a data engineer, software developer, or similar; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Expert proficiency in a domain-specific language such as Python, C++, Java, R, SQL, and/or HTML/HTML5. Familiarity with Hadoop or suitable equivalent.

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Leadership

JOB GOAL:

Design, create, automate, and maintain sophisticated programs that extract, convert, and load data. Extract district data from multiple systems, architect a data warehouse, and create and sustain structures for data analysis.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design the architecture of a data platform that will include data from all district software applications.
  2. Deploy algorithms to extract and automate data from multiple sources into a comprehensive data warehouse.
  3. Program custom integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems.
  4. Collaborate with a testing team to test the reliability and performance of each part of the data pipeline.
  5. Design, implement, and monitor system security to ensure data integrity. This includes establishing limits for user access to various data based on the end user's level of authority.
  6. Work directly with end-users to design and develop custom tools to analyze and report data in various formats and platforms.
  7. Monitor the automated data pipelines and modify the program as needed.
  8. Set up tools to view data, generate reports, and create dashboards.
  9. Ensure the data warehouse is backed up and readily accessible to relevant staff.
  10. Verify data integrity and validate with various data sources.
  11. Maintain USFR Data Integrity guidelines.
  12. Remain up-to-date with industry standards and technological advancements that will improve the quality of work.
  13. Maintains mutually supportive, respectful, and cooperative relationships with colleagues.
  14. Assists the district in achieving its shared vision and objectives.
  15. Contributes to improvement efforts within the district.
  16. Performs other job duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Twelve-month, employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Exempt
  3. Full Time Employee Benefits: in accordance with Board policy.

EVALUATION:

  1. Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy on evaluation of support personnel.
