Location: Community ED

9.5 months, 8 hours/day

Non Interim Position

Grade 19, $18.15/hour

Start Date: 07/17/2024

Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Purpose Statement

The job of CE Childcare Associate IV Floater is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the Community Education program within assigned classroom/site with specific responsibility for implementing lessons and activities to enrich student experiences in appropriate curriculum; assuring the program, facility and staff conform to regulations; and working various hours and at various sites throughout the district.

This job reports to CE Childcare Coordinator

Essential Functions

Attends meetings and in-service presentations through Community Education for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

Communicates with teachers, parents and staff of the host school for the purpose of cultivating supportive relationships.

Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually for the purpose of meeting mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations.

Implements lessons and activities for the purpose of enriching student experiences in appropriate curriculum.

Maintains accurate records (e.g. student enrollment and attendance, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.

Monitors equipment for the purpose of ensuring the equipment is in safe working order, arranging with CE Childcare Coordinator for repairs or replacement when needed.

Monitors staff, program and facility for the purpose of assuring conformity to Arizona Department of Health Services, Office of Childcare Licensure regulations.

Monitors department staff regarding quality indicators of the National Association of Young Children accreditation system for the purpose of ensuring adherence and familiarity of its regulations.

Oversees students and staff for the purpose of assuring their safety.

Presents accurate and timely information to District and Community groups (e.g. program offerings, participation levels, etc.) for the purpose of promoting program, gaining feedback and complying with established internal controls.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; controlling and motivating students; and preparing and maintaining accurate records; using pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: stages of child development; age appropriate activities; and positive reinforcement techniques; health standards; age appropriate activities/behaviors; methods of instruction and training.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job- related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience: Job related experience is desired.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Equivalency: Must meet staff qualifications to be a facilities director under Section R9- 5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code. Applicant must provide written documentation of one of the following:

A. High school or high school equivalency diploma & completion of at least 6 credit hours in early childhood, child development or closely related field in an accredited college or university or 60 actual hours of instruction.

B. N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P, or C.P.C. Credential & at least 18 months of childcare experience;

C. Minimum of 24 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least 6 credit hours of course work in the areas of early childhood, child development, or closely related field and 18 months of childcare experience.

D. Associate degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development or closely related field & 6 months of childcare experience.

E. Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development or closely related field & 3 months of childcare experience.
