- Screen all incoming students to determine current level of a speech or language handicap.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations.
- Communicate with the elementary school Speech and Language Pathologists to exchange information and provide continuity for the student's therapy program.
- Obtain proper documentation and signatures prior to the placement of the student in the Speech and Language Pathology Program.
- Prepare an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for each student enrolled only in the Speech and Language Pathology Program and assist in development of IEP's for dual students.
- Communicate with parents regarding the student's program in school.
- Confer with the regular classroom teacher regarding the student's progress.
- Apprise the Exceptional Student Programs Department Chairperson of the program activities on campus.
- Confer with resource teachers regarding students receiving dual services.
- Communicate with community agencies which provide speech pathology services or which interface with the field of speech pathology.
- Schedule students and provide appropriate individual or group therapy to remediate speech and language disorders.
- Provide for the transfer (carryover) of good speech to nontherapeutic environments.
- Complete all paperwork required by district policy and state and federal law.
- Participate in speech pathology staffings and meetings.
- Participate in Professional Growth activities such as conventions and workshops.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Possess Arizona Certification for Speech and Language Pathology.
- Have a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
- Possess certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association; or its equivalent.

The Pathologist shall work with students on an individual basis to help reduce the effects of the diagnosed speech or language disorder.
