    POSITION SUMMARY
    Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the enrichment program to ensure the health, safety and emotional well being of children and staff. Provides coordinated services such as staffing, program design implementation, supervision and training, facility maintenance and security, parent communications, school staff/principal/counselor communication, record keeping, bank deposits, and government compliance.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Schedules staff to accommodate DHS mandated staff to student ratios.
    • Enrolls and orients children and their families into the program.
    • Complies with annual DHS inspections and devises a plan of correction if warranted and ensures that the plan of correction is followed through.
    • Schedules substitute staff when needed. And fills in if substitute is unavailable.
    • Posts collected fees to appropriate accounts, reconciles bank deposits, collects overdue accounts and posts late fees. Closes out delinquent accounts, prepares paperwork, and sends to collection agency.
    • Monitors family enrollment to ensure that reporting procedures for Centers attendance and fiscal information is accurate.
    • Programs computer to reflect new annual rates, discounts, DES, etc.
    • Attends staff meetings and developmental training programs. Sits in on interview boards. Takes part in learning community groups.
    • Helps establish and maintains budget for assigned LEAP site.
    • Takes inventory and completes purchase orders for procurement of necessary site supplies, materials and equipment, etc. per budget.
    • Oversees implementation of daily food program. Makes up menus when needed to meet childrens nutritional needs and DHS requirements. Completes necessary paperwork.
    • Maintains safety and cleanliness of classroom, equipment and materials. Delegates related tasks and chores.
    • Fosters and maintains open communication with parents and schedules meetings as needed; provides information to parents concerning their childrens development abilities and areas of concern, explains program procedures and classroom activities.
    • Addresses any bookkeeping/billing concerns.
    • Keeps accurate documentation on behavioral issues and other problems and deals appropriately with discipline issues.
    • Reports incidents of suspected child abuse to proper authorities using mandatory report forms.
    • Institutes fire and disaster preparedness drill and completes necessary paperwork as required by law report.
    • Completes and maintains all relevant records including DES, monthly attendance, snack rosters, daily attendance rosters, and procurement records. Keeps track of the schools fire marshal reports, insurances, and cafeteria inspection reports in compliance with DHS.
    • Provides regular feedback, coaching, counseling and instruction to assigned staff members. Sets goals for staff members (and self) and ensures that they are followed through. If warranted, provides objectives for improvement for staff and monitors progress.
    • Coordinates with staff members to plan and implement activities for the academic, social and cognitive enrichment of students of all ages and skill levels. Monitors and motivates staff to ensure quality of guidance methods and support for program goals. Plans and coordinates weekly/monthly staff meetings to promote on going communication.
    • Plans weekly lesson plans, staff schedules, field trips, and center events. Coordinates transportation and other activities that help meet program goals.
    • May administer prescription or non-prescription medications per established guidelines as required and completes all relevant DHS paperwork.
    • Attends continuing educational programs regularly as required by certification requirements.
    • Maintains a minimum of 18 hours of training per year.
    • Assures site compliance with DHS requirements.
    • Maintains all relevant site records, staff files and generated reports. Ensures that staff has current clearance cards, criminal affidavits, workshop hours, First Aid and CPR certifications, etc.
    • Maintains positive relations within the school community.
    • Sits in on parent/teacher meetings if warranted.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.
    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Demonstrated knowledge of accepted childcare methods and behavior management techniques and knowledge of relevant government regulations.
    • Skills in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
    • Ability to supervise up to 100 children.
    • Ability to operate standard office and computer equipment and billing software.
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with children and adults.
    • Skills in activity and lesson planning.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situation.
    • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community business members.
    • Knowledge of accepted management techniques for building staff relations.
    • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school diploma
    • 24 months child care qualifying experience
    • Minimum of 60 hours of training/workshops
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • First Aid and CPR certified
    • Current TB Test and vaccinations as required by DHS upon hire
    • Current DPS Clearance

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and bend. The employee may be required to move ten pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Indoor classroom environment, and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with staff, students, parents and the public.

    $13.72/hour (ASRS Retirees will have a lower hourly rate due to the Alternate Contribution Rate)

    12 Month position - 8 hours/day (split shift)
