POSITION SUMMARY
Utilizes Literacy Grant funding opportunities to maximum advantage to benefit student achievement.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Works with teachers in setting up and coordinating programs.
- Assists with the coordination and implementation of testing new students entering the district.
- Attends parent conferences as needed.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Assists with assessing students progress per DIBELS benchmarks.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of children in the reading program.
- Prepares adequately for classes assigned.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
- Accepts non-teaching duties as assigned.
- Performs such other functions as may be assigned by the site principal to assist the instructional process in pursuit of educational excellence.
- Assists administrators and other professionals in planning the wise utilization of funds available to the schools through the various federal programs.
- Works with designated committees of teachers, principals, and laypersons in specific programs, projects, or courses of action.
- Obtains information, data, and application forms necessary to fulfill the requirements of application.
- Participates in preparation of an annual report summarizing the evaluation of federally funded programs newly completed, the progress of those under way.
- Compiles and maintains written records and reports on results of all federal projects, and disseminates this information, as appropriate, to other educational institutions, lay groups, the state department of education, and the U.S. Office of Education.
- Remains up to date on the changing laws and requirements regarding federal funds available to the schools.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES- Demonstrated knowledge of accepted childcare methods and behavior management techniques and knowledge of relevant government regulations.
- Skills in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to operate standard office and computer equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with children and adults.
- Skills in leading activities and lessons.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community business members.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
QUALIFICATIONS- Valid AZ teaching certificate or 60 semester hours of college / pass the Parapro Test.
- Related experience or education working with school age children
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and bend. The employee may be required to move ten pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor classroom environment and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with staff, students, parents and the public.
$12.37/hour (ASRS Retirees will have a lower hourly rate due to the Alternate Contribution Rate)
9 Month position - 7 hours/day - while funding continues
