This intermittent position, with rotating days, evening, and weekend shifts, is in the Natural Resources Parks and Recreation Department.

Do you have excellent communication skills, enjoy organizing community social events, and have experience creating a safe and fun environment for patrons of all ages? As the Recreation Aide for Ellie Towne, you will assist the recreational leader in organizing and monitoring the sports activities and games planned for center participants. This position is intermittent and has rotating shifts which will provide you flexibility and encourage a work-life balance. Assists in overseeing any one of a number of recreation activities, such as sports, dance, twirling, crafts and table games;
Assists in operation of leagues, tournaments, meets, and the daily programmed activities;
Interprets and explains game rules and referees and umpires ball games;
Keeps recreation facility in a clean and orderly condition;
Issues receipts;
Prepares cash reports;
Gives information to the public regarding recreation facilities and programs;
Shows movies;
Maintains projection equipment;
Tells or reads stories to children;
Maintains attendance and other records and prepares reports.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Knowledge of:
- game rules, crafts and sports;
- first aid;
- arithmetic and simple bookkeeping.
Skill in:
- maintaining discipline;
- working harmoniously with large or small groups;
- making routine and simple computations accurately;
- operating and maintaining projection equipment.
Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates the minimum knowledge and skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working with children and/or adults in recreation, social services, or educational setting.
- Knowledge of/experience with arts and crafts.
- Knowledge of/experience with sports, playgrounds, and group games.

Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services' review and approval of the candidate's driving record.
