    Term: 9 Month position
    Full Time: 35 hours per week

    Position Summary: The job of Interpreter for the Hearing Impaired was established for the purpose/s of facilitating communication between persons who are hearing impaired; using sign language to convey teacher instruction and intent; assisting students with daily activities; providing voice to sign, sign to voice oral transliterate support; participating as a team member to plan, review and share information; and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with those who are hearing impaired.

    Training and Experience:
    High School diploma or equivalent.
    Demonstrate understanding of and use of major sign language systems and be fluent in Signed English, American Sign Language, with special emphasis on Signed English.
    Works with other people in the school with a professional attitude.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Score of 3.5 on Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment or commitment to obtain Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment certification within 3 years.
    Valid DPS fingerprint clearance card.
