Position Summary

The Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Dental Hygiene is seeking a Senior Academic Advisor. Working under the direct supervision of the Division of Dental Hygiene Program Director. The successful candidate will answer Graduate and Undergraduate student inquiries and resolve problems related to curriculum and course prerequisites. Will work closely with the Program Director on accreditation projects through CODA requirements and Continuing Education Course Operation.

This Academic Advisor will provide integrated academic advisement and consultation of prospective, current, and former students within the Division. The Advisor will develop academic plans and class schedules and will analyze applications, transfer evaluations, and transcripts for entry and exit from the University. The Advisor will maintain appropriate records and coordinate or perform special functions associated with an academic function, such as assisting with curriculum planning, committee service, and guiding the work of assistants or work study students. Will also serve as specialist in certification, athletic eligibility, and/or licensure requirements. This is a fast-paced, high functioning department. The successful candidate must possess strong organizational and customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS suite
  • Experience with a higher education dental or similar program
  • Experience with coordination of interviewing materials, scheduling and advisement schedules
  • Experience with assisting dental hygiene or similar program advisement
