Job Description

The incumbent is this position provides academic advisement and assistance for prospective, current, and former students within a specified Center for Student Success and Services (CSSS) Program. In addition, this individual locates and contacts non-resident/out of state students, public school students, and any other Tribal Member student, not registered with department, in order to promote and the various program and services provided by the STOF CSSS Department. The incumbent assesses academic levels and responds to students' academic inquiries; assists in the resolution of individual academic problems and advises on academic program changes. The individual analyzes applications, transfers evaluation requests and transcripts for the admission or discharge of an educational program, as well as assists those who seek to obtain the General Education Diploma (GED). Serves as liaison between the Tribal Professional Development, Tutor and Higher Education Programs, in order to coordinate and promote services. Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field is required. Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of six (6) months of experience working as an education advisor, academic counselor ore related field is required. Certification as a Professional Educator is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel to all reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
