Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an Account Manager to promote our polyurethane systems in our Chemical Systems division. This position is responsible for expanding our existing base of business and would ideally be located in the south-central region of the United States. This is a remote / home office position.

As the Account Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of account management to maintain and grow our business within an assigned customer base. This is a consultative selling process that involves building relationships & trust with customers across the value chain.

Your additional responsibilities as Account Manager will include:

  • Support the business needs of existing customers while maximizing return to Carpenter.
    • Forecast demand to support the supply chain planning process.
  • Generate new business by contacting prospects and qualifying these accounts for pursuit.
  • Develop and manage strategic and operational action plans for developing prospects and pursuit accounts through the sales cycle.
  • Provide routine written communications detailing market trends, competitive products/activities, and interactions with customers.
  • Work independently and efficiently to achieve business objectives.


  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business or another related major
  • 4+ years of sales/marketing and/or technical experience in the chemical industry preferably in the field of polyurethanes
  • Advanced knowledge & proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong critical thinking, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 60% for customer meetings and other business activities
