This position is located at the Downtown Phoenix campus, 522 N Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004.


This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of all background, including fingerprint, checks.


This position requires that you must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.


Job Description:

$54,000 to $56,000 per year, commensurate experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.


Facilities Development and Management, Business Operations, seeks an Accountant to perform a wide range of detailed and complex accounting, and advisory functions calling for professional knowledge of, and experience in, accounting principles and practices.


Essential Duties

·       Prepare on-line requisitions.

·       Process payments.

·       Maintain detailed records.

·       Process on-line purchases using departmental purchasing cards.

·       Create aging reports to track outstanding purchase orders to outside vendors.

·       Reconcile financial accounts.

·       Perform detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts, and projections.

·       Prepare various accounting and journal entries to manage departmental budgets.

·       Approve transactions within designated limits.

·       Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university policies.

·       Answer policy, budget, and procedure questions from department staff, university staff, and customers.

·       Maintain professional accounting body of knowledge by attending professional development training as assigned.

·       Bill internal campus customers for Facilities Management service work provided.

·       Generate monthly real estate rental invoices and reconcile resulting receipts.

·       Prepare accounting and auditing reports for the City of Phoenix.

·       Perform other duties as assigned.


DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; 8:00AM-5:00PM


This position is eligible for flexible work options, including alternative work schedules or hybrid remote work schedules where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location, subject to approvals per ASU policy.


Desired Qualifications

Experience in:

·       Fund/government accounting

·       Preparing detailed reconciliations

·       Budget planning

·       Preparing expense tracking reports

·       Utilizing an on-line financial system (i.e., Advantage, Workday, etc.)

·       Extracting financial information from a data warehouse utilizing BrioQuery, MyReports, or a similar application

·       Fiscal year-end procedures


Demonstrated knowledge of:

·       Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

·       Customer service skills


Evidence of effective communication skills


Working Environment

·       Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.

·       Required to stand/sit for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work.

·       Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.


Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Driving Requirement:

This position may require driving. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
