Job Description

General Description of Duties: Will be responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Make recommendations for the efficient and accurate maintenance of the general ledger. Files all appropriate tax forms and reports with government agencies as directed. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. Reconcile operating account daily. Monitor bank accounts to maintain minimum required balances for free services. Reconcile all other accounts on a monthly basis. Organize and issue all required reporting to banks. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital, and assists in the preparation of the balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position and cash forecast. Will be responsible for a variety of routine accounting work and performs other related work as required including but not limited to general ledger, auditing functions within the Finance Department. Responsible for the development and improvement of processes relating to, but not limited to, contract management, inventory control, fixed assets and other accounting functions as required. Reviews financial activities to insure that Agency complies with legal requirements, on a timely basis.

Education and Experience: Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business or public administration, accounting, or directly related discipline and 3 yrs. public and/or non-profit finance or accounting work or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required. Experience with Accounting systems administration. Computer experience utilizing accounting programs/software (i.e., Great Plains Dynamics, UltiPro, Vertex, or Pay Chex) systems highly preferred. Advanced computer literacy and utilization of various Microsoft applications including Excel is required in order to provide reporting and analytical tools to the Finance staff. Knowledge of Commensurate Wage rules highly preferred. Must have the ability to provide exceptional customer service, display strong attention to detail, have the ability to manage multiple projects and/or problems as they arise, and meet established deadlines. Demonstrated organizational skills are required. Must have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers. Must have the ability to maintain harmonious, courteous, and considerate relationships while fostering a collaborative teamwork environment with both agency employees and the public. Have the ability to present a friendly, courteous image for the Agency to the general public, customers, and public officials.

Other Requirements: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM drivers license, and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must be able to sit, perform keyboarding functions continually. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder(s) frequently. Must be able to push/pull and lift 10-15 lbs occasionally. Adelante is a drug free workplace.
