ACCOUNTING MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Manager oversees and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting staff to accurately record the revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts, revenue and asset accounting, and associated analysis.
  2. Manages the month-end close function including preparation and review of journal entries.
  3. G/L account, bank, and investment statement reconciliations.
  4. Assists in yearly financial statement audit, 401k plan audit, and workers compensation premium audits.
  5. Cash management activities.
  6. Maintain vehicle permanent fleet registrations with MVD.
  7. Enforce proper accounting methods and policies.
  8. Identify and implement process improvements.
  9. Develop staff by managing performance, coaching, setting goals, and providing training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards and laws.
  2. Ability to direct and supervise staff.
  3. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  4. Problem solving skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. BS degree in Accounting and proven working experience leading an Accounting team.

Language Skills: Able to speak, read and write English; Spanish language helpful.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with MS Office; able to learn other software and accounting programs as necessary. Proficiency with Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge software a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid AZ Driver's License and Insurance.

Other Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

Regular attendance is required. Access to reliable transportation.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
