As an adjunct faculty member, youll provide program instruction in an online format, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • This course examines historical foundations, theories, and models of child development, including family characteristics, diversity, multicultural factors, and community relationships. Teacher candidates identify community organizations that support children with exceptionalities and their families. Candidates also identify ways to use those resources to advocate for children and their families.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the Universitys Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Five or more years of successful classroom teaching experience within Birth-Grade 3 special education or inclusion setting as evidenced through employer evaluations AND Doctorate in Educational Leadership or Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or Doctorate in Instructional Leadership or Doctorate in Early Childhood Education or Doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education or Doctorate in Special Education or Doctorate in an education-related field or Masters in Education or Masters in Early Childhood Education or Masters in Early Childhood Special Education or Masters in Special Education or Masters in an education-related field AND (possess 1 or 2 or 3) 1. A valid state teacher certification in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education. 2. A valid state teacher certification in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education. 3. A minimum of two items from the following criteria: a. Leadership position and/or membership in an educational advisory board or a department of education sponsored committee such as a school improvement solutions team within the past 5 years. b. One publication of article(s) in a professional education magazine or journal within the last 5 years. c. Two presentation(s) such as in-service for teachers and/or administrators on best practices within the last 5 years. d. Subject matter expert; wrote new curriculum or revised materials for in the field of early childhood education or early childhood special education within the last 5 years. e. At least 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience within Birth-Grade 3 general or special education setting as evidenced through employer evaluations. f. Evidence of 2 or more years of part-time or full-time teaching experience in higher education in the area of Early Child Education or Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education. AND (must have a minimum of two from among 4-11) 4. Is enrolled in a terminal/doctoral degree program with a minimum of 18 credits successfully completed. 5. Has 4 or more years experience as a board member on two or more boards related to content areas. 6. Has been recognized with 2 or more awards for their expertise in content area. 7. Has over 3 publications in peer reviewed journals within the last 7 years. 8. Holds a 4 or more years experience in leadership position within their respective professional association. 9. Have a minimum of 10 years of work experience in the field. 10. Hold certifications in their respective content area above and beyond degree credentials. 11. Holds or has held a position as a director or higher (Exec Director or Assist VP or VP or Superintendent or C-level) in the work setting for 8 or more years in the area related to the course.
  • All instructors must possess at least 18 graduate credits of curriculum planning for students with learning disabilities.
