Position Summary

UNM-Valenciais seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant 2 who will work in theNursing Department. The individual will provide administrative support to thedepartment and will be the main point of contact for thedepartment. This person will be responsible for relaying and resolving routinetelephone and/or walk-up inquiries, student questions, and proving instructorassistance as needed, relating to the program. This position requires abilityto communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with faculty, studentsand staff.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, TheUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of TheUniversity of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the regionand is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis onteaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,technical programs, Adult Education, and Dual Credit courses to high schools inValencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student bodyof over 2,000 students per semester.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in business related program.
  • Experience at a community college or university
  • Experience in an associate or bachelor degree nursing program
