Position Summary

PLEASENOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM,approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

TheUniversity of New Mexico has established branch colleges to serve the citizensof New Mexico and to provide the highest quality of education for studentspursuing post-secondary education at different locations throughout the state.Branch colleges respond specifically to the unique needs and multiculturalbackgrounds of their respective communities by offering community educationprograms, career education including certificate and associate degree programs,and transfer programs that prepare students for upper division entry intocolleges and universities.

The UNM-Gallup Nursing Program is seeking a highlymotivated individual to work as their Administrative Assistant. This positionrequires the employee to perform a variety of administrative and staff supportduties that involve a range of skills and knowledge of organizational policiesand procedures. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting anddirecting visitors, as well as resolving administrative problems and inquiries.The Administrative Assistant also composes, edits, and proofreadscorrespondence and reports, with the ability to professionally prepare a rangeof administrative documents. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties asassigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational, college, or university attendance and/or degree
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures with strong focus on successful customer service, including telephone and email etiquette
  • Familiarity with financial and purchasing practices and procedures
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess strong organizational and project managementskills
