JOB SUMMARY
Perform administrative work of considerable difficulty in the planning, directing, and coordinating activities of a designated program or division to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished. This is a supervisory position working under general direction. Positions at this level have as a primary responsibility planning, assigning, and reviewing work of a group of employees, as well as selecting, training, and disciplining individual employees.
Example of Duties

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Confer with department personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Confer with staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Determine feasibility of initiating new programs and expanding existing programs.
  • Develop and implement procedures and operations.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of department personnel.
  • Establish work plan and staffing.
  • Supervise staff as assigned.
  • Review projects or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Prepare reports for management, client, or others.
  • Coordinate activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Negotiate and respond to grants and contracts.
  • Prepare and process federal and state grant application for funding.
  • Manage and oversee programs, plans, and studies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate committee meetings and public outreach events and activities.
  • Review status reports prepared by personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Analyze departmental financial or project data and make recommendations.
  • Arrange for recruitment or assignment of personnel.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative work experience.
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License may be required.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is sedentary, requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires the ability to finger, reach, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
