Admissions Assistant

Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Pond is seeking an Admissions Assistant for our skilled nursing facility in St. James, NY.

DUTIES:

  • Coordinating the resident referral and approval process in an efficient manner
  • Establishing & maintaining relationships with local hospitals, physicians & community organizations for the purpose of generating consistent admissions to the facility
  • Understand the admissions process including policy, procedures, assessments & paperwork requirements
  • Support the facility's PR to generate a positive image & encourage word-of-mouth referrals
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations governing Medicare/Medicaid/Managed Care reimbursement processes
  • Communicate special needs of new admissions to staff to ensure a smooth transition
  • Provide appointments for facility presentations and on-site tours
  • Acts as the liaison between the clinical staff and the HMO's
  • Collect vital information from various departments to be shared with the HMO's
  • Verify coverage & benefits with the HMO's to ensure proper compensation
  • Coordinate the services associated with discharge or return home
  • Manage the MLTC secondary
  • Assist in ordering equipment, coordinating patient transportation, updating calendar, etc.
  • Update tracking for therapists, get signatures and approvals for equipment and script

Requirements Include:

  • Nursing Home experience is a MUST
  • The ideal candidate will have a clinical background and/or experience in a medical office
  • Should understand medical terminology
  • Must be able to read or quickly pick up reading clinical charts
  • Excellent computer skill; strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record programs preferred
