POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) is to perform patient start of care comprehensive assessment, evaluation, and development and implementation of plan of care. This position also provides skilled nursing care to patients in accordance with the plan of care and agency policies.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Requires that the person possess a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Alaska
- One year of recent clinical nursing experience
- Must have a valid Alaska drivers license and vehicle liability insurance in accordance with Alaska state law
- Prior home care and OASIS experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Strong interpersonal skills.
- Solid computer skills, prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.
- Ability to travel to cases as assigned. Must possess, and maintain, a current Basic Life Support Certification,
ENVIRONMENT:
South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22 bed critical access hospital and a 28 bed long-term care facility, located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The position requires walking, standing for extended periods, stooping and the ability to lift 35 pounds, the ability to drive and sit in a vehicle for extended periods of time. Persons in this position are exposed to infectious diseases, including blood-borne pathogens, muscle strains, falls, and needle stick injuries. Generally, physical needs are moderate and most work is performed inside. Working hours may fluctuate based on scheduling needs and patient census. The Home Health Program provides community-based services within the service area of South Peninsula Hospital. The service area extends from Ninilchik to Kachemak Selo at the head of Kachemak Bay. The Admissions RN will occasionally travel outside the service area per contractual agreement with insurance, drug companies and other agencies. Travel in inclement weather is occasionally necessary.
