    JOB GOALS:
    Adult Basic Education/Adult Secondary Education teachers work in classrooms delivering HSE preparation and/or basic skills instruction to successfully complete an HSE diploma or skills program and transition to career pathways and/or postsecondary education. Teachers must be sensitive to the needs and goals of students from a wide range of ability levels and ethnicities.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Bachelors degree in education, subject area, skills area, or related field.
    2. Arizona State Adult Education Certificate.
    3. Must pass a fingerprint and background check.

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 Months
    COMPENSATION: $25.20 - $29.73
    BENEFITS: As per District policy
    REPORTS TO: Adult Education Program Director
    HOURS: 7 hours per week: Tuesday and Wednesday 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
    CLASSIFICATION: Grant Fund Hourly, Non-Exempt

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
    1. Provides learning environments that enhance the development of language fluency and self-esteem of learners.
    2. Integrate language acquisition with relevant life experience.
    3. Participates in the development of ELAA curriculum that coordinates and enables students progress from ELAA Literacy through ELAA Advanced High.
    4. Develop students receptive English-language skills of listening and reading comprehension, and their productive English language skills of speaking and writing.
    5. Complete and submit all required data and accountability documentation in a timely manner.
    6. Teach in a multi-level classroom.
    7. Supervise volunteer tutors in one-to-one or small group settings.
    8. Design lesson plans to respond to documented needs and goals of students.
    9. Track and report student progress to Adult Education Director of Instruction.
    10. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
    11. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    12. Stand for long periods of time
    13. Other duties as assigned.
