Position Description
Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Elicits records and interprets a complete health, past medical family and psycho-social aspects
  • Performs a complete adult physical examination, assessment distinguishes between normal findings
  • Orders tests and procedures as necessary
  • Consults with the attending or resident physicians prior to initiation of major procedure or plan.
  • Writes admissions, discharges and medical orders
  • Formulates a care plan based on physical exam or other data and implements it
  • Performs Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Specific Qualifications
  • Provides nocturnal (7 on and 7 off) augmented healthcare services under the direction and responsibility of a physician, in an in-patient setting
  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidence by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants or graduation form an accredited school of nursing as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas State Board of Nurse examiners
  • Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas State of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer license to Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners or ability to transfer certification to Texas
