Course: Advanced Motion Design 1

In this advanced studio course, students plan and produce graphic design-based portfolio pieces that demonstrate an understanding of motion. Students examine industry trends as they relate to advertising and client storytelling and learn to craft motion graphic solutions centered around client needs. Technology requirement: Students provide their own laptop and mouse.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom
  • Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes
  • Respond to students questions and emails within the established timeframes
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the Universitys Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University

What You Will Bring:

  • Preferred: Masters degree AND
    • 3 or more years experience in the design industry
  • Minimum: bachelors degree in animation, motion graphics, 3D modeling, graphic design, advertising, or an equivalent degree in the visual arts
  • Skills in the following are required: 12 Principles of Animation, understanding of graphic design and how it relates to motion graphics, motion graphics trends, motion production pipeline, strong ability to give pointed feedback, understanding of typography and its use in motion, manipulation and editing of sound files, story arc, color theory, and how to understand requirements of a creative brief for motion graphics. Ability to mentor students in the development and production of capstone-level projects. Skills teaching the following software programs are required: Maya, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition and Adobe mobile apps.
  • Job titles that fit the criteria: Graphic Designer, 2D Animator, 3D Animator, Motion Graphics Designer, Interactive Designer, Multimedia Designer, Creative Director, Art Director.
