Position Description
Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Elicits records and interprets a complete health history, past Medical Family and psycho-social aspects
  • Performs a complete adult physical examination, assessment, distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings
  • Orders Tests and procedures as necessary
  • Consults with the attending or resident physicians prior to initiation of major procedure or plan
  • Writes admissions, discharges, and medical orders
  • Formulates a care plan of care based on physical exam or other data and implements
  • Performs Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as necessary.
  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes
  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEPs values (Service, Respect, Accountability
  • Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Graduation for a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association
  • Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer licensee to Texas
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
