JOB SUMMARY

The Affordable Housing Engagement Manager will lead the day-to-day engagement operations between Progress Residential, housing authorities, community organizations and regulatory agencies (Department of Housing and Urban Development). The Engagement Manager will oversee partner and stakeholder relations, resident advocacy, retention and engagement by exhibiting a deep understanding of housing authorities/affordable housing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for housing authorities, community organizations and regulatory agencies (HUD).

  • Collaborate with local market teams to develop strategies for engagement with housing authorities and maximizing opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

  • Coordinate meetings, presentations, and other engagement activities with housing authority representatives and other community stakeholders.

  • Act as a liaison between Housing Authority and Progress Residential.

  • Provide training and support to internal teams on housing authority policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Stay informed about changes in housing policies, regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of engagement activities and outcomes.

  • Monitor performance metrics and outcomes related to housing authority engagement initiatives and application funnel. Work in partnership with Director of Market Performance & Business Operations to ensure we are addressing issues with PHA performance.

  • Represent Progress Residential at conferences, meetings, and other events related to affordable housing.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, social work, or a related field (preferred).

  • 3-5 years of experience working with housing authorities or in the affordable housing sector

  • Strong understanding of housing policies, regulations, and programs, including HUD programs such as the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with database management software.

  • Travel is required for meetings, conferences, and other events. Expected travel 30%-40%.

  • Bilingual preferred.
