JOB SUMMARY
Perform professional administrative duties including budget planning and management, streamlining and executing administrative workflows and procedures, work with management and support staff to assess and improve administrative processes and enhance departments efficiency.
Example of Duties

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Oversight of the department's budget in the areas of development, management, and forecasting of revenues and expenditures.

  • Manage the financial and accounting operations including daily work of staff, monitoring accounts, audits and department payroll.

  • Oversight of the department's burn permit program.

  • Develop, review, and improve administrative systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Manage schedules and deadlines.

  • Submit annual reports to Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).

  • Develop and implement a staff-training program, train other employees, and/or monitor the work produced by other employees.

  • Assist in directing the implementation of department plans and programs and managing all administrative functions.

  • Respond to inquiries from the public concerning rules and regulations.

  • Review work of assigned staff for work quality and timely accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities.

  • Plan, schedule, and promote department events including meetings, conferences, interviews, orientations, and training sessions.

  • Maintain on-going working relationships with other departments.

  • Building and expanding on skills by engaging in educational opportunities.

  • Promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, and teamwork to help enrich lives beyond expectation.

  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.

  • Perform other related duties are required.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Physical Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of environmental work experience including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License.
Supplemental Information

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principals and techniques of administrative management including organization, planning, staffing, training, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Knowledge of principals of technical record keeping and records management.
  • Skill in initiating, coordinating, and directing environmental quality program services and functions..
  • Ability to work independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to balance, climb, feel, finger, grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, pull, push, hear, speak, stand, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.

Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
