Overview

Under general supervision of Comparative Medicine Management and/or staff veterinarians, cares for animals and cleans facilities used in
experimental and breeding colonies. CMAR Technicians provide daily husbandry of laboratory animals to include (but not limited to) observation of animals, handling and restraint, feeding and watering, changing cages/racks, and sanitizing animal quarters and equipment for multiple species.

Operates and/or use supplies and equipment necessary to perform the husbandry duties. Provides daily record keeping for animals and room environments in accordance with LBRI quality assurance standards and regulations. Willmaintain cleanliness of the cage wash area, warehouse, diet kitchen and any animal equipment storage areas. Outstanding Communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously with team members and all professionals is a must.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and other heavy equipment, pushing, bending, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, outdoor work, working in extremes temperature and humidity. Must be able to wear a respirator and protective clothing or equipment. A Post-offer physical and background check/security clearance are required. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.

Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
