DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Appellate Court Clerk performs complex work of considerable dif?culty in case recording and processing
court proceedings under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Review legal documents for accuracy and completeness and enter legal documents into automated or manualcase management system.Summarize and type appellate court proceedings in minute entry form.Maintain all physical case ?les, electronic databases and archives, and other records of the Court of Appeals.Answer telephone calls. Responds to inquiries from trial court staff, attorneys, judges, and the public.Complete legal certi?cates and other material with proper information.Research case ?les to extract and provide information; prepare and process formal appellate court orders,decisions and opinions for publication and dissemination.Maintain calendars of ?ling deadlines and hearings; schedule appellate brie?ng and oral arguments.Prepare and transmit necessary and appropriate appellate court notices and other documents.Coordinate the ordering of supplies and equipment with Community Court administration.Coordinate preparation and submission of payment vouchers for appellate judges with Community Courtadministration.
0 Maintain records of incoming correspondence and action documents; follow-up on work in process to ensure
timely reply or action.
0 Perform other related duties and activities as assigned.. C C C CREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:0 Considerable knowledge of legal terminology, statutes and other sources of law0 Pro?ciency in use of of?ce equipment including computers and typical of?ce computer programs, especially
in Word, Excel, etc.
0 Ability to perform clerical tasks tactfully and apply learned skills to new work situations.
0 Pro?ciency in proper business English, spelling, grammar, and basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.Ability to maintain strict con?dentiality of court matters.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.Ability to work independently with limited supervision.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Community Court employees,
Community Of?cials, court practitioners and the general public.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years of recent court clerk experience, preferably in a
tribal court setting.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
0 Required to pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.

- Prospective employees shall not possess the following background:1. Any felony conviction in any jurisdiction2. Any misdemeanor conviction in any jurisdiction within the last ?ve (5) years.3. Any misdemeanor conviction in any jurisdiction within the last seven (7) years that involved a dishonest
act or false statement, e. g., fraud, theft, perjury; or a crime against a vulnerable individual.
0 Subject to review as to con?icts of interest and shall abide by the Code of Ethics for Judicial Employees.
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
