The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Phoenix, AZ is looking to fill an Aquatics Coordinator position, The successful candidate for this position will possess significant experience working at a large public pool facility and/or waterpark; experience developing, managing and supervising aquatics programs and facilities; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Aquatics Coordinator will give oversight to and leadership over operations of the Aquatics programs, splash pad and facilities. This employee will develop and maintain all aquatics-related programming, including but not limited to adult group exercise classes, swim lessons, CPR/First Aid Classes, lifeguard certification sessions, and open swim usage. This person will establish, maintain, and enforce guidelines relevant to the aquatics department and conduct aquatics in-services to ensure ongoing training and develop skills for lifeguards. The Aquatics Coordinator will also work collaboratively with other Directors, Managers and Coordinators to serve as a Manager on Duty.

Qualifications: 

  • Possess a minimum of bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management or related field.
  • Experience may substitute for education on a 2:1 ratio.
  • Must be able to obtain StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, American Safety & Health Institute Authorized Instructor, and StarFish Instructor Trainer certifications within 30 days of employment.
  • Prefer candidates with a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate.
  • Possess significant experience working at a large public pool facility and/or waterpark.
  • Experience working with/familiarity with pool mechanics – pump and filtration systems.
  • Experience developing, managing, and supervising aquatics programs and facilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Must have the ability to swim with proficiency and endurance.
  • Ability to prioritize and address projects, which may conflict, in a time-sensitive manger.
  • Ability to communicate effectively; ability to interact with co-workers, management, leadership, and the general public in a positive, productive manner.
  • Ability to analyze problems and reach acceptable and workable solutions; implement effectively.
  • Ability to present oneself in a professional manner; ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
