DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Assistant Comptroller assists the Assistant Finance Director in managing the day-to-day activities (i.e.,planning, organizing, and supervising the activities and staff) in the Finance Department, specifically; accountsreceivable, billing, collections, cashiers, contract compliance, and fixed assets. The position also provides highlycomplex technical assistance to the Assistance Finance Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist the Assistant Finance Director in planning, directing and supervising departmental staff and programs,
including accounts receivable, billing, collections, cashiers, contract compliance, and fixed assets.Provides direction in the cashiering, invoicing, and billing activities of the Community.Provides accounting and reconciliation of the fixed assets system to the general ledger and the financial
statements.Provides technician guidance and assistance in resolving capitalization of complex transactions from an
accounting and budgeting perspective.Review proposed and current contracts, subcontracts, and contract labor agreements and request for payment
in accordance with applicable, policy procedures, regulations, and laws.Assist in the preparation of the Communitys Comprehensive Annual Audit Report and required
supplementary information.Provide accurate information for accounting related questions from federal and state agencies, Community
Council, and department/program directors.Assist the Finance Management Team in check signing, preliminary check approval, daily cash analysis,
positive pay, and acts as secondary approver on wire transfers.Direct review of systems and procedures and spot checks the adequacy of all accounting records.Plan, organize and supervise the activities and staff of the Finance Department under the supervision of the
position.Make recommendations for improvement in management control and ?nancial management procedure.
Assist the Finance Management Team in the preparation, regular update and completion of the Finance
Department Policy and Procedures.Assist the Finance Management Team in monthly and year-end general ledger close-outs, including timely
review of balance sheet account reconciliation.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:Knowledge of accounting controls, principles, and practices of financial administration.Ability to identify and respond to public, Community management and Community Council issues and
concerns.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to read and comprehend a variety of financial source documents.Ability to effectively administer related financial services activities.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials
and the general public.Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.
Experience and knowledge in financial accounting and reporting systems and software.Ability to effectively plan, supervises, and coordinates work of others.Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting problems and to develop logical and clear recommendations based
on the result of such research.Ability to follow up and complete projects in a timely manner.Ability to ensure and enforce compliance with all financial aspects of the Gila River Indian Community

closely related field and a minimum of four (4) years in financial and accounting administration and which
included two (2) years of administrative and/or supervisory experience. Government and/or Tribal Government
experience preferred.ADDITIONAL RE! 2UIREMENTS:Required to pass a background check.Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.Reference check and adequate credit history required. [Credit report must be submitted with application]Supervisory, Salaried Position
