Job Description Summary

As an Assistant Controller working for Taylor Morrison, you will be responsible for working alongside the Controller and review divisions financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, headcount and more.

Job Details

We trust that as an Assistant Controller you will: (responsibilities)

  • Responsible for division reporting/month-end close process (weekly, month-end, quarterly) with review by VP of Finance
  • Responsible for periodic operational reports such as volume risk, backlog margin report, etc.
  • Responsible for assistance with the annual budget/monthly/quarterly forecast process (includes maintenance of subdivision files, CCP, etc.)
  • Responsible for preparation of supporting information for weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare/Review division sales commissions, bonuses and payroll calculations
  • Prepare/Review monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and audit Weekly Unit report
  • Prepare, audit and upload Weekly Sales Margin report
  • Responsible for accuracy/maintenance of entries from the fixed asset reporting system and lease systems
  • Maintain journal entry templates
  • Preparation and analyze overhead variance reports
  • Assist AP admin with review of property tax payments
  • Preparation/Review of intercompany account reconciliations
  • Sign-off and posting of cash receipt journal entries
  • Assist AP Admin with maintaining all coding schedules
  • Responsible for miscellaneous management reporting
  • Responsible for system financial maintenance of homebuilding software (Newstar)
  • Support Contract and Closing process including responsibility for contract review and closing documents for customers and land transactions
  • Prepare wires for land transactions
  • Ensure that corporate controls and financial policies and procedures are followed
  • Assist with audit coordination and requests
  • You are willing to perform other duties as assigned

About you:

  • Bachelors degree in finance or accounting required
  • Computer literacy, including excellent Excel skills and knowledge of forecasting software
  • Newstar or other ERP experience required.
  • Accounting experience, preferably in high volume environment of homebuilding, land development, or construction industry.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting
  • Credit report in good standing

FLSA Status: Exempt

Will have responsibilities such as:

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
