Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, located in beautiful Paradise Valley, AZ is seeking an experienced, outgoing, hands-on Assistant Director of Human Resources.

JOB SUMMARY

This position contributes to Sanctuarys success by assisting the Director of Human Resources in executing strategies that serve to attract, retain, and develop top talent. The ADHR directs and works with human resource employees to carry out the daily activities of the Human Resource Department, including recruitment, benefits administration, training and staff development, and employee relations. This position reports to the Managing Director in the absence of the Director of Human Resources and acts as a liaison between staff and the Director of HR, as needed. This position ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and municipal laws and the wellbeing of all employees. JOB FUNCTIONS

Note: the following duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive

  • Recommend and administer various HR plans and procedures for all employees.
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continual improvement of department.
  • Conduct periodic audits to include attendance policy adherence and compliance, I-9 audits, HR file audits, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws as well as regulations and court rulings which pertain to human resources by reviewing current policies, management practices; implement new policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with key policies (e.g., Sexual Harassment, Non-Harassment, Non-Discrimination, No Solicitation).
  • Ensure wages are paid in accordance with our compensation plan and federal and state laws.
  • Drive recruitment effort for all exempt/nonexempt personnel, to include but not limited to: employer branding, career website maintenance, timely and accurate job postings, attendance of relevant job and career event and monitoring and managing of time to fill metrics.
  • Assist with evaluation of training and staff development programs; advise and assist in development of new and innovative programs to further the development of staff at all levels in the organization; participate in succession planning activities.
  • Administer employee benefits program (major medical plan, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k) etc.) and educate employees on benefits package.
  • Prepare announcement material, and other media for communicating new plans to employees. Conduct employee meetings and open enrollment education.
  • Oversee administration of employee reward and recognition programs; evaluate effectiveness and advise on new and innovative programs to drive engagement and retention.
  • Process insurance invoices in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous, resolution.
  • Manage COBRA administration.
  • Oversee Workers Compensation, FMLA and ADA compliance and administration.
  • Effectively advise management team in hiring, promotions, wage adjustments, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere at all times by upholding and enlivening the Sanctuary Commitments.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Director of Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related major, or equivalent work experience.

Related Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years prior Human Resources experience, of which 3 in a managerial/leadership role.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Resort experience preferred.

ADP Workforce Now Experience preferred.

PHR or SHRM-CP designation through SHRM preferred.

Required Knowledge

Excellent English verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
