Position Summary |
The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of New Mexico-Taosinvites applications for a 12-month (FY) Tenure Track position (Assistant Professor) in EarlyChildhood Education (ECED). The successful candidate will be expected to assume a teachingload of 6-9 credit hours per semester with administrative responsibilities of coordinating theTeacher Residency component of the program and the Practicum hours, student mentoring,ECED and EDUC scheduling, and/or other duties as assigned in ECED. The primary duties ofthis position will be to teach lower division ECED courses and assist in coordinating the ECEDand EDUC programs. The position may also include teaching to the dual credit population inour Friday Early College Program. This faculty member must be willing to try a variety ofinstructional approaches, commit to being part of a Professional Learning Community, as well askeep regular office hours each week, and other academic duties. UNM-Taos offers a Certificate and Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development and anAssociate of Science in Education. We offer the 11 statewide ECED courses and generaleducation courses toward both ECED and EDUC and one specific Education class for secondaryand elementary school majors. |
Qualifications |
Minimum Qualifications: * Applicants must have a minimum of a Masters Degree in the discipline or subfield in which they are applying to teach. Applicant must have completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed (e.g., completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield in which they teach or tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree). Preferred Qualifications: * PhD in ECED or Related Field * Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution * Proficiency teaching in a community college environment * Experience in curriculum innovation for diverse learning styles * Commitment to being part of a Professional Learning Community * A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities * Demonstrated ability to work with students at a variety of academic levels * Experience in academic advising and mentoring, including working with student groups; |
