Major/Essential Functions
- Supervises residents and medical students in clinical setting
- Provides performance evaluation, skill testing and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students
- Provides patient care in the Emergency Department
- Participates in resident and faculty recruitment
- Serves as medical control physician for El Paso EMS while on duty in the Emergency Department
- Assists department chair with implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectiveness
- Participates in national emergency medicine societies such as ACEP, SAEM, AAEM
- Participates in medical research projects relating to emergency medicine
- Participates in medical school and hospital committees
- Assists with development and implementation of special departmental projects
- Participates in chart audits and other clinical performance improvement efforts
- Attends and participates in morbidity-mortality and journal clubs
- Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
- Adheres to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures
- Attends mandatory training provided and required by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in teaching residents and medical students
- Evidence of growth in clinical, teaching, and research activities related to the specialty
- Knowledge of medical Spanish
- ACLS/PALS/ATLS certifications
- Regional or emerging national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher
- Experience or education in ultrasound practices in the settings of emergency medicine with a minimum of 200 documented reviewed scans

Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine
- Valid unrestricted medical license or eligibility for medical license in Texas
