Major/Essential Functions
  • Participates in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Surgery coverage
  • Provides education to medical students/residents
  • Participates in research activities and/or projects
  • Performs a wide variety of general surgery surgical procedures
  • Provides inpatient and outpatient care
  • Takes on-call on a rotating basis
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Statement of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery
  • Board certification in surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery
  • Strong work ethic and good team player
  • Experience and/or interest in teaching students and residents
  • Experience and/or interest in conducting research and publishing scientific reports
  • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher

Required Qualifications
  • M.D. / D.O.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency program
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited surgical critical care fellowship program
  • Texas Medical License or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas
