Title: Senior Ratings Associate
Location: 7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007, USA
Duties: Perform day-to-day credit analysis on increasingly complex issuers, with a focus on homebuilding, building materials and packaging sectors. Prepare initial draft of issuer and sector research reports to clearly communicate our credit view with market participants. Use proprietary models and new financial projections as applicable, identifying trends in data, and applying analytical skills and judgment to form well-reasoned credit conclusions. Apply knowledge of credit fundamentals through review of transaction documentation and cash flow analysis. Monitor a full and diverse portfolio with growing independence. Develop and apply knowledge of internal methodologies and credit rating standard processes with moderate guidance from lead analysts. Prepare first draft of rating committee memos and materials, in collaboration with lead analysts. Demonstrate ability to understand and identify key factors that affect issuer credit ratings. Bring forward advance matters for discussion with lead analyst where appropriate and provide credit-specific nuance. Interpret and analyze financial data and other credit inputs provided by internal and external parties. Monitor credit quality and issuer and/or industry trends (homebuilding, building materials, and packaging sectors) by following market developments and relevant news events. Analyze issuer reporting, including monitoring and attending earnings calls. Engage with issuers and investors directly ad-hoc to provide additional clarity and information regarding credit rating rationale. Attend and participate in rating committee meetings, including offering analysis and opinion where appropriate. Prepare credit estimates used to assess elements of credit risk in certain rated transactions.
Requirements: Must have a Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, or a related quantitative field plus two (2) years of experience as an Analyst or in a related position performing credit and ratings analysis in various rating groups/asset classes. Must have experience with the following: applying knowledge of rating process and services, analyst workflow, compliance policies and procedures, and rating business regulatory requirements; reviewing quantitative and qualitative assessments of financial statements and economic/market data; reviewing research produced on specific issuers, general credit trends, or sector related issues; providing analytical oversight, including documenting and implementing workflow processes and conducting quality checks; and performing project management.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $107,765 to $135,750, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
