Job Description:
Salary: $82,000.00 annually
Arizona State University is seeking an Associate Director of Residential Life, who will share in the leadership and management of a comprehensive residential program serving more than 16,500 students across four locations in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Associate Director builds upon ASU's success in delivering an exceptional experience that contributes to the intellectual, personal, and professional growth and development of students living within the residential college program and continuing student living communities.
The Associate Director serves on the Residential Life Senior Leadership Team and maintains signif cant interactions with a broad array of institutional stakeholders including students, parents, faculty, alumni, and community members. The position requires a thoughtful and highly collaborative leader with strong supervision skills; the ability to develop and evaluate strategies for the management of critical incidents and leads the implementation and support for Housing and University wide initiatives. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President and Director of Residential Life. The Associate Director will work closely with Education Outreach and Student Services Partners, in addition to ASU's Academic Colleges.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in higher education, Counseling, Business Administration, or closely related field, with at least five (5) years previous Residential Life/Student Affairs experience, four (4) of which include supervision; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and ability have been achieved.
Desired Qualification:
· Demonstrated knowledge of student housing practices, student leadership and student disciplinary processes to facilitate efficient residential hall management and supervision.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices and standards of Student Affairs and University Housing.
· Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, methods and standards of management and fiscal
· operations.
· Demonstrated knowledge of counseling, conflict management and crisis intervention theories, principles and practices.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of strategic planning.
· Experience in working with diverse student populations.
· Experience in problem solving and critical thinking for decision making.
· Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
· Experience in the use of computer-based technology in performing work activities.
· Experience in interpreting, analyzing and preparing budgetary and forecasting reports.
· Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse populations.
· Experience in applying strong crisis management skills to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
Working Environment:
· Professionally represent university/department/college.

· Work collaboratively across various departments within the University as well as with diverse populations and groups.
· Develop and deliver presentations to groups.
· Use computers effectively including inputting, reviewing and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, using mouse and keyboard, and sitting.

· Supervise students and/or staff.
· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to perform essential duties.
· Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
