Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction in promoting the educational, research, and clinical service missions of the Division
  • Mentors faculty, residents, and medical students
  • Engages in and promotes scholarship and quality improvement initiatives within the Division and the Department
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration across service lines (trauma, pediatric surgery, pediatric emergency medicine) to care for critically ill patients
  • Provides comprehensive care for seriously ill newborns, infants, children, and adolescents or those needing a high-level of monitoring in a pediatric intensive care unit
  • Supervises medical students, residents, and advanced practice professionals in the clinical setting
  • Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations
  • Demonstrate Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Required Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program
  • Texas license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics
  • Experience with the education of medical students and residents
  • Progressive experience in management and leadership in an academic health center
  • A record of scholarly achievement in pediatric critical care medicine
  • Emerging regional or national professional reputation
