Major/Essential Functions

• Contributes to the clinical, education and scholarship missions of the department
• Develops and/or expands clinical service, which enhances the reputation of the institution and meets an important niche for behavioral health care in the region+
• Supervises resident, medical students and fellows in clinical settings
• Actively participates or leads teaching activities in the area of psychiatry and behavioral sciences in undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education and continuing medical education
• Advises, mentors and provides career guidance to learners and early-career faculty
• Conducts clinical and/or translational research and publishes in peer-reviewed journals
• Actively participates or leads clinical, education or research-related committees in the department, school or health sciences center
• Performs other academically-related administrative duties as assigned
• Exceptional candidates will be considered for the Edward Stern Endowed Professorship in Psychiatry
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations; adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
• Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicines Statement of Faculty Responsibility

Required Qualifications

• M.D/D.O.
• Successful completion of ACGME- accredited residency program in psychiatry
• Board-certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
• Licensure or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
• Demonstrated track record in research and peer-reviewed publications
• Regional or national recognition of clinical, educational or research expertise
