The successful candidate will join the Analytical Development Department at Biogen and support development, optimization, qualification, execution, and troubleshooting of various biological assays for characterization of various protein and gene therapy products.

The individual will develop, qualify, and perform biological assays to support product development for multiple programs. The work will include developing and executing quantitative assays on various assay platforms to measure binding between proteins, cellular expression and functions of biological products, as well as the levels of process-related impurities (e.g., residual DNA and proteins from host cells). Responsibilities also include statistical data analysis, record keeping, report writing and reviewing, internal technical presentations, and new technology evaluation and implementation. The individual will be required to work in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
  • Solid background in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology is required.
  • Hands-on experience with cell-based assays, immunochemical methods (e.g., ELISA), DNA/RNA extraction, Q-PCR/ddPCR is required.
  • Experience in development and troubleshooting of plate-based assays is required.
  • Familiarity with various detection technologies (colorimetric, fluorescence, luminescence, ECL, etc.), and knowledge/experience in structures and functions of antibodies and/or viruses, statistical analysis for biological assays, and automation is a plus.
  • Previous industry work experience is a plus.
  • Excellent laboratory, computer, documentation, organization, and time management skills.
  • A fast learner with strong scientific curiosity, good interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.

Education:

B.S. +2-4 years or M.S. + 0-2 years experience in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related biological science fields.
