    SUMMARY:
    A BVSD Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff and parents. This includes such responsibilities as: leading, directing, counseling, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective parent, teacher, and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and parents; and managing budget items. The assistant principal acts in the capacity of the principal during the principals absence from the school.

    Assistant Principal RESPONSIBILITIES:
    -Assist the principal to provide collaborative leadership in the following areas:
    -Continuous school improvement aligned with the District Strategic Plan and State Accreditation
    -Purposeful and inclusive curriculum and instructional strategies that are school-wide
    -Ongoing assessment of school progress and student achievement
    -Job-embedded and discipline-based professional development
    -Commitment to shared decision-making in a spirit of collaboration
    -School climate development that fosters a just and equitable environment
    -Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff members
    -Maintain a safe and secure educational environment

    Athletic Director RESPONSIBILITIES:
    -Development and maintenance of parent and community partnerships
    -Oversight of building athletic budget, activity accounts, and fundraised dollars
    -Hiring, supervision and evaluation of athletic coaches and club sponsors
    -Development, maintenance and implementation of athletic schedules, including the scheduling of transportation needs and game officials
    -Facilities management, including building-wide schedules, routine care, and critical or long-term maintenance issues with district maintenance staff

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Required:
    -Currently hold a Colorado Principal License or have licensure application in process (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
    -Completed BVSD Online Application
    -High school or college level coaching or athletic department experience
    -Experience in teaching, instructional supervision or educational leadership at the secondary level

    Preferred:
    -Current knowledge of best instructional and coaching practices
    -Strong planning, organization, motivation, management, supervision and evaluation skills
    -Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal and external audiences
    -Demonstrated skills in facilitation, problem solving, and conflict management
    -Experience in supervision and evaluation of instructional staff
    -Experience in handling student discipline at the high school level
    -Knowledge of Colorado school law as it pertains to discipline, attendance and student crisis

    Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the post-offer screening process, including a background check.
    SALARY: Range 11: $91,169 - $136,753 (2020-2021 salary schedule based on experience); excellent benefit package. Website: www.bvsd.org/benefits.

    EFFECTIVE DATE: Beginning of 2021-2022 school year (estimated to be July 26, 2021)
