Bilingual Communications Specialist - Social Media (Effective 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR)
Job Description
SUMMARY
Performs a broad range of duties related to communications for all TUSD constituencies. Communications platforms include special emphasis on social media platforms, as well as written work and video. Communications Specialist is technologically adept with a deep understanding of the social media, web, data and analytics..
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent related field experience required.
Two (2) years of experience in any combination of media relations, public relations, public information and/or experience with social media, newsletter writing or customer relations.
Two (2) years experience creating media, professional video recording/editing using Adobe Creative Suite and photo editing applications.
Demonstrated experience in social media and/or digital marketing and analytics.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing video and photography on multiple social platforms such as but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
Advanced proficiency using word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.
Excellent writing, spelling, and grammar skills.
Advanced verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
Any equivalent combination of experience, training or education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in public education and/or public information settings.
Four (4) years experience in an educational environment creating media, professional video recording/editing using Adobe Creative Suite and photo editing applications.
Strong understanding and interest in growing social media and mobile platform communities.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check.
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
Must hold a current Drivers license and personal vehicle insurance coverage greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of auto insurance policy. Coverage must be valid throughout term of employment.

Classification: Supervisory/Professional
FTE: 1.0 - 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
