    STARTING HOURLY RATE: $16.25 - $16.99 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

    SUMMARY:

    The Bookstore Assistant assists students with checking in and out books and materials, paying fees, and ordering supplies. Counts and reconciles money and prepares deposits.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Assists students and parents with school-related transactions, checking out textbooks and calculators, selling school supplies, ID's, and PE uniforms, paying fees, paying student activity fees, and answering questions.
    2. Works with the District's textbook depository to manage textbook inventory, order, unload, and load pallets of textbooks when receiving product and purging old and surplus materials; prepare educational materials, including textbooks, for checkout, process check-ins.
    3. Assists teachers and club sponsors with completing proper paperwork for clubs to include sales reconciliation forms and deposits for fundraisers; checks account balances for clubs. Disperses monies for approved student activities, auxiliary requisitions and reconciles receipts.
    4. Maintains an accurate inventory of supplies.
    5. Prepares daily deposits and counts cash drawers; maintains an accurate count of vault and bookstore money. Collects deposits from the Cafeteria and prepares for pick up.
    6. Files and maintains paperwork to include requisitions, sales receipts, and sales reconciliation forms.
    7. Assists in bookstore pre-sale and year end audit.
    8. Assists the Bookstore Coordinator with daily tasks as needed.
    9. Cleans and maintains the bookstore; mops, sweeps, and cleans shelves.
    10. Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND six months of clerical experience or experience as an accounting clerk; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    Work is performed indoors at the campus bookstore. May require lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
